I told my T a few months ago that when I'm depressed, I have no appetite and have to force myself to eat, and when I do it it's generally something very easy to prepare and so usually unhealthy. But when I'm hypo, I eat a much better amount and eat a lot healthier because I have the energy to cook, grocery shop etc.
My T told me this was unusual -- according to her most people eat more when they're depressed, and have less appetite when they're hypo.
I was wondering how you all eat!

I'm exactly the same way! I actually will forget to eat when I'm depressed and I eat a **** ton when I'm hypo.

I'm the same way. I eat less when depressed usually and eat healthy when hypo. Although if I'm only mildly depressed, I tend to eat junk. If it's severe depression, I barely eat and usually lose weight.

what's said in the above post

which is a little weird.. so many people say that you eat more for emotional reasons, but i really don't think that's true at all

i think for the majority of us it's not

Depression and Anxiety - I am constantly hungry and balloon which only makes me feels worse.

Hypo/mania - I don't have an appetite at all, I'm incredibly active, and the weight falls off

When I'm in a severe episode, either depressed or up, I don't eat because I start to feel way stressed out.

So, on average, I lose about ten pounds either direction. It's how I can tell I'm really feeling bad/weird.

For me, depressed, stressed or otherwise upset or agitated = no appetite. Hypo, or otherwise up mood = eat like an animal.

When I'm depressed, all I do is eat. Hypo: no appetite, very little sleep.

My appetite doesn't usually change at all - occasionally (very occasionally) I might have less of an appetite when depressed but I usually make myself eat normally.

My weight is very stable and always has been (with the exception of side effects - I gained 15-20 pounds from seroquel which I had to lose, but then maintained, and I lost 15-20 from depakote, which I've since maintained).

If for whatever reason - mood, boredom - I eat too much or too little one day, my appetite compensates the next day.

Okay, I'm glad to see I'm not actually abnormal, it seems many of y'all have similar habits to me
Reminds me of a funny post I saw on tumblr the other day. They were talking about making a cookbook of meals they eat when depressed but the only recipe is just a half-eaten bag of plain tortilla chips. Lol. Where is the lie?
