I've been disabled now for six years, and I'm so bored I could just scream. I have a hard time meeting people, and a harder time finding hobbies that don't bore me.

It's even reached the point where I have to have my husband stand by while I take a shower.

Yes, I've talked to the pdoc about this and she's prescribed l-methyl-folate to add to my med cocktail. I sure hope it helps.

I am sorry you are so bored.
Do you have a therapist to talk to?
Maybe it is time for a life coach???
May I ask why you need your hubby to stand by while you shower? What is the methle folate for?

out of pure interest, what hobbies have you tried- but found to be boring?

(so we don't say the same thing)

Go to groups, go for very very long walks, reading, cleaning, yoga, spend a lot of time on the internet, meditate, hang out with family, and go to the gym/work out. Pretty much how I've been spending my days since I've been out of work.

I spend 12-16 hours per day on the Internet, mostly reading and watching about world affairs. I spend a lot of time here too and an occasional movie here and there.

I wonder how many lists I'm on for visiting Russian websites?

I am extremely bored too.

I have considered returning to work but I realize I would return to a life full of abject fear and debilitating stress (I have a deplorable record of work in that I simply can't maintain emloyment).

I try to walk a lot. I have a big problem though that I can't stand this prairie city. Walking around this community only drives home the pining away for my former home in the mountains.

So what do I do?

I volunteer once or twice a month.
I try to schedule at least one activity each week (other than my support group)
I try to go out for one treat per week (ie. coffee shop)
I space out my chores to one per day
I grocery shop only as needed every day or two.
I make myself read at least one chapter daily.
I complete a CBT worksheet weekly
I cook a decent meal every other day.
I call/make contact with at least one friend/aquaintance daily

What I don't do is write in a journal. The feeling of boredom seems to encourage me to ruminate.

My husband works 3-4 days a week. We are together other days.
My mom lives with us for now. I am always busy, there are always chores needing attention.

We also do some fun recreational activities.

I deal with a few painful autoimmune conditions, which are severe enough to win disability, without getting into anything mental health. Thus, I try to rest every other day.

Try learning a new language! Go to Duolingo on the net or download the app.

It's free and a lot of fun!

I can't say enough about this supplement. For whatever reason, it keeps my depression at bay and I feel so much better when I take it.

I have a therapist, but we're not hitting what's going on, obviously. A life coach would cost money I don't have.

I don't know why I need hubby to stand by when I shower....it's mostly for company, I think.

L-methyl-folate is to boost the antidepressant I take. It's b vitamins in a form the body can process.
