So... I can't tell what's going on.

Yesterday I was sitting in my room minding my own business, as usual. Then for a second, I stared at a stack of papers on my guitar case. That's when the stack started to warp.

The letters on the page stretched and contracted. Then the stack of papers started "breathing". (You know how when you inhale your ribs expand to accommodate the increased oxygen in your lungs? Well, the whole stack expanded like that, then contracted. It kept doing this, so it imitated "breathing".)

All of a sudden, the guitar case began to warp too. It was doing this same "breathing" thing. It also started looking like it was boiling!

The "boiling" caused the papers to partially slide off the guitar case, but then the papers "climbed" back up, as if time reversed itself. It was so bizarre!

I quickly looked away because it freaked me out. Then all of a sudden I glanced over at an Under Armour bag I had on my floor, and it was doing the same thing!

What the hell is this? Has anyone had a hallucination like this?

It could be dissociation rather than a psychosis hallucination. When I have dissociation the world becomes distorted in a similar way.

I have had these types of hallucinations, for me they are at the start of or during a psychotic break, don't panic though. I have been told that it is not uncommon for even "muggles" to have similar types of hallucinations. When they start talking to you then panic

Back in the day when I 'experimented' lots of things "breathed". This sounds frightening to me. Hugs to you & I hope everything is okay.

I remember when I was young, staring at clothes hanging in my closet while laying in bed, with dim light from a nightlight. The clothes would begin to sway back and forth, and move different directions. I had large tapestries on the wall, one with a river and horses by it. If I stared at it, the horses tails would swish around, and they would bend down to drink water from the river. This phenomena still occurs in adult life in dim light, if I stare at things at night. They will distort or begin to move. I'm glad you posted about this topic, as I had not considered what may be the cause, and often times I forget about it because I am seldom in dimly lit areas with my eyes open. I have noticed if I relax my focus when looking at documents, or even a post on this page, the paragraph will segment, and parts of it will be closer to me than others, and some of the sentences will float behind others, and that is in good lighting, as soon as i move my eyebrow and focus harder the words go back where they are suppoosed to be. I don't know what thats about.

I try to blame them on the years I followed the grateful dead, until they start to communicate with me lol

I have hallucinations like this too. Not normally. Just when I'm psychotic.

I really think you should call your doctor, blue.

First off call your psychiatrist if they keep up.

Second I've had a really bizzare tactile hallucination last month where early in the morning an entity came into my room (couldn't see it, was playing on my phone), and took blood out of my leg, I could actually feel it coming out of my leg, and afterwards my leg felt woozy and weak, like your arm.does after.they draw blood. It was weird to say the least, told my psychiatrist I don't think she believed me, idk. But you aren't alone in the bizzare hallucinations club. Hugs

I have weird hallucinations but only when I am manic so far (and I hope it stays that way). If something like that happened to me I would be on the phone with my pdocs office asap. Are you feeling manic? It would really freak me out if it started happening outside of a manic episode.

I have "breathing" hallucinations...usually when I'm more manic or when I stay awake too long after taking ambien.

Do u feel like you are heading b psychotic?

Otherwise they can be caused by so many things...dissociative feelibgs, anxiety, fatigue
Like someone else said even ppl without bipolar get visual weirdness
Are you having other symptoms?

Thanks guys

I don't know if I'm going psychotic, but probably not because I just started feeling a little tired. I mean, I don't have these hallucinations 100% of the time. It's maybe 10-15% of the time... although at work I kept getting them. My desk "rippled" like ocean waves. Idk. It was just really weird.

I don't have any anxiety or paranoia, and these hallucinations definitely occurred without fatigue. Maybe it's only dissociation (well, I hope so for my sake).
