Gah. We need some more excitement in this forum.
If you were a pdoc, what would you prescribe yourself? I know doctors can't prescribe themselves anything, but let's just pretend you can. And while we're at it, let's pretend you're allowed to prescribe medical marijuana, Percocet, and all that fun stuff.  Just remember to keep your BP in mind.

My combination right now is the best its been since I started even though I'm ironically on an all time low, I would add valium, I've been anti-benzo since I was diagnosed, since I studied med and I know its addictive (I've only ever taken ativan like twice) but right now my anxiety is at a all time high and I'm really struggling.

I'd prescribe myself a higher antidepressant dose.

I am quite happy with my current psych cocktail.
There are other meds I wish I could tolerate; I would choose them if I could tolerate them. I might add some Adderall back in soon, for a trial (with this cocktail). I have great difficulty getting enough pain relief (severe chronic pain) and would like a trial of OxyContin in place of the morphine I have taken 3x daily for 15+ years. Current policies/regulations are so anti-pain meds that doctors will now endorse MMJ before they will try OxyContin. MMJ destabilizes me mood-wise. I decline using it. I am often left in gut-wrenching pain. Doctors will not do much to help when pain is out-of-control. (I have additional PTSD from severe pain.)  WC |

I'd prescribe my self the combo I'm on right now (Geodon and Lamictal) and maybe add back in some Welbutrin, cause that s*** was like speed to me.

In all honesty, Xanax. I know, I know, it's additive. When I did have a script I never, ever abused it & I do not have an additive personality. I was actually afraid to take it, & would hold off as long as I could. God, it was a horrible time. Months & months of incessant panic with the occasional break-aways into full-blown panic attacks. As a matter of fact, I still have one left over from years ago, even though it has probably lost all its potency by now, that I'm hanging onto like a security blanket just in case I ever have another one of the big, bad ones in which you would rather be dead than have to live through. I just wish I knew that if I ever should need it again it would be there.

The only pain killer that has ever worked for me is morphine, so definitely some of that and perhaps a stimulant.
I would rather live a short time pain free than to live longer constantly suffering. |
