From reading your profile and other posts, I see you are bipolar and in hypo or manic phase and not on medication. I have been down that road plenty. The things that help me is to stop all the caffeine you can if you are consuming any. Try to get as much exercise as you can each day. The longer this goes on, the more likely your chances of sleeping are. Make sure you aren't interrupted during your hours available for sleeping. Try to establish a routine bedtime and wake up time, with no stimulus in the hour before the bedtime except maybe things that relax you like easy music. Things to remember is mania craves mania. And sleep breaks up mania. Train your body when bedtime is each day, and you may not be able to sleep right away each night when you go to bed. Until you break this manic stretch you are on this will be tough to get started. Once you break it a little by getting some sleep you can make a little more headway on it.
It is easy to confuse not wanting to sleep, with not being able to sleep. While manic it's difficult or impossible even when you try. Once you break it up a bit with some sleep you may not want to sleep when you might be able to get few hours. I know how hard this is without meds, I do it. And no I don't always follow my own advice, and get stuck in some nasty cycles that get out of hand. I highly suggest trying to find professional support and following their suggestions in your particular situation. I know that isn't always available and we're left dealing on our own. If your still stuck in turbo charged mode, no caffeine, exercise, and grab any sleep you can get a hold of. |
