Well I finally have an answer, she wants a divorce. Main reason is that she does not feel that she has the capacity to handle my MI. She wants to start seeing other people and figure out our living situation permanently. I so want to go out and self medicate. But I am here at work ruminating about our kids and how they are going to handle this news.

That is a hard place to be in. I wish you luck during the transition, remember we at PC are here for support. And good job not self medicating, even though I'm sure it's painful.

Sorry this happened to you

But from what I remember, it seemed like she was mistreating you. You don't deserve that sort of treatment anyway.

Though... I'm glad you're not self medicating. You're definitely handling this situation very maturely. I hope everything works out okay with the kids, because I know it was hard on my uncle when his wife did something similar.

Thanks all, I have demons from my past staring me in the face, It is oh so hard not to use right now. I am so heart broken. I appreciate all of the support, I will get through this and I will be happier because of it. As far as dating goes I don't know, I could go out this weekend with a girl that has shown interest in me for quite some time. That might be too fast though. I dont know.

" That might be too fast though " ... might not be a good idea to load your plate up right now ... give yourself some healing space ... and time ... this maybe stressful before it is all settled .... no need to complicate matters ....

I am so sorry to hear this is happening to you. Divorce is very difficult and I imagine it's even worse when your spouse says the reason is your illness (something you don't have complete control over). Good job on staying away from self-medicating....it's best to keep a clear head. I know it doesn't feel like it now, but it will get easier in time. It will probably get harder before it gets easier....but eventually everything will even out. ((((Hugs to you and your kids)))

It is probably for the best, she got really mad when I brought up the subject of her being an abusive partner over the last few years. She told me I am using her as a scapegoat for my negative emotions.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it will be for the best, though. It's hard having a partner that doesn't support you, especially with an MI.
