Dentist

So I had the dentist today and learned I have to have my wisdom teeth removed. :/ I'm so nervous. Can they just knock me out instead of anesthesia? Will it interfere with my meds?

They gave me the option of being put out when I got mine done but I don't remember if I was taking meds then. I couldn't afford it at the time though so just got local. If wasn't that bad at all. Good luck!

Seems like only your dentist can answer these questions for sure. If they administer anesthesia, they're responsible for checking for possible drug interactions beforehand.

Thanks guys. We haven't scheduled it yet but I'm already so nervous. I hope I can just be knocked out. I'll ask when I go.

Call and ask before you go so they can look up the potential interactions and you don't have to worry about it.

I thought they usually do knock you out for that. I know I was and most people I know who have it done are , mine hadnt even started coming in yet they cut all 4 of them out

It was an additional $800.00 to be put out and I was paying out of pocket, no insurance. Mine were considered impacted and had to be dug out......I was numb but awake....there was a lot of pressure but no real pain.

I had mine out with IV anesthesia. I was told they give you something so you don't remember because you need to be conscious for the surgery. I had three teeth and woke up in the procedure room, and then again in the recovery room. I was in and out for quite a while, actually. This was around 1992 when I was 20.

-----even if you are awake, dental work can be virtually painless today!

Thanks everyone. I'm a little less nervous about it now. The dentist wasn't fun though I kept hearing and seeing things. There was a nice shadow man sitting on the stool in front of me. For once I wasn't having scary hallucinations.
