What is the single most expensive thing you bought while manic?

I bought a guitar for $550. I have no idea how to play it and I haven't touched it since I've bought it.

Probably an IPAD though I'm unsure if I was manic for certain. I tend to make a lot of smaller purchases which add up.

I bought a $3000 iMac as I believed I was starting up a photography business and needed the best equipment to edit on. First, I already had a MacBook Pro which could do the job nicely and second, although I had done two photography units at university, I was in no way skilled enough (and well enough) to start a photography business.

Now I hardly use my iMac as I tend to do my surfing and working on my couch, rather than in my study where the iMac is. I even got business registration and spend about $200 on that too. Now I plan to be a writer so I switched my major from photography to writing. Writing better suits my lifestyle as I am physically limited by Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. It works better with the mental illnesses too. I can write articles, books, websites etc when I feel up to it, of course while meeting deadlines.

Sorry, got a bit carried away there. I really need to start using my iMac it is HUGE an awesome.

Learn how to play or at least noodle around with it. It's a ton of fun.

An ELFA shelving system for a RENTAL apartment. Later after I got psychotic my landlord asked me to move and I ended up giving away the shelving for free. It probably cost $1000.

But mostly I am with the crowd that buys a lot of cheap things that add up to big $$$.

I got my bull terrier puppy who is pure bred for $1500. At the time that was all we had yet I convinced my husband it was worth it. It kinda was worth it, she is an amazing dog, just regret spending all our money.

I buy cars.

I do think about it for a bit. Not completely impulsive but only make these choices when manic.

Coping skill I have discovered- Make a list of practical things I need but put off doing. Then when I am manic, I have a direction to make a move.

Example, I need new carpeting. It is not a project I want to tackle ATM. When I become manic, I will solve this purchase with no hesitation.
If I go on a trip (trips make me manic) I will try to bring cash to spend instead of a debit card with a big limit.

I'm with people that say they buy a lot of small stuff. I still have like 10 bars of soap left from a stupid sale. Anything that says "sale" I buy! Family dollar?! Oh man. And theirs a store by me that's called "5 and below" that sells everything from candy to phone accessories to clothes. I easily spend over $100 each time. Even if I'm not hypo, I blame BPD for making me forever impulsive. The absolute dumbest thing I did was get illegal collagen injections in my lips when I was 19. Ten years later they're still there... and yea my brother calls me a goldfish lol.

Writing courses that were around $500 a pop. She's a well known writer, but it didn't help my skills one iota. I can't stand to see her stuff now.

Sorry about the lip injections. Do you like them at all? Recently I started an Instagram and started following all these beauty gurus because I love makeup and used to work in the field myself for several years. They all have these big gorgeous lips and most because of lip injections. I became obsessed...my husband even said he'd get them for me along with Botox. Then I realized that Instagram is really nothing more than a walking advertisement and I don't watch commercials. Instead of getting injections, I got off Instagram and stopped looking at all those pretty faces with their puffy lips. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have puffy lips still but I have bigger issues and places to spend money right now.

Honestly they look awesome for being done in a mom and pop shop. I have to admit, all the ladies that ran it looked amazing. Obviously taking their own medicine lol. The only thing I don't like it that they're hard. Like a fake boob lol. That's the only thing wrong.

I'm glad you like them but sorry they are hard. I must admit I like the look. My ex husband has nice puffy lips and hated them....it was one of his best features! My son got them and I'm so pleased....they are adorable. As a baby he was all lips and eyes and it was adorable....wish I knew how to posts his baby pic

I tend to buy little things at a time, but I have spent $300 on a tattoo that I left work in the middle of my shift to get.
