I have silver scripts through Medicare part d and this year thankfully I had extra help. I had to reapply for that of course. But I haven't heard back yet!
I'm worrying about the cost of my meds next year. I struggle so much as it is. Latuda alone is $200 with silvers scripts without extra help. That's all I have e to live in after paying bills and has to cover all expenses for rest of the month! I'd have to stop taking that and pristiq and then I'd probably come unglued again. I'm just worried.

I know. I'm having the same worries coming up in February. I'm afraid the Trintellex and Saphris will be too expensive to continue taking once I go on Medicare.

It's just the meds helps so much. I don't want to be messing with them again anytime soon while I'm doing so well.

I'm not any kinda expert ((clearly)), but maybe a different antipsychotic? A couple "atypicals" are now generic...zyprexa, risperidone, geodon, seroquel (not the xr), abilify. Asendin (amoxapine) is an odd older drug...its an antidepressant (tricyclic-class), but it also functions (in higher doses...) like an "atypical" antipsychotic. At least...that's what my former shrink told me. I didn't want to take it because I don't like tricyclics.
Perphenazine is an older one that's fairly tolerable in low to moderate doses. Loxapine, too. |

Yea I'm very very sensitive to antipsychotics. Latuda has been a game changer for me as has haldol. Most of the newer drugs I get super bad side effects, like abilify-throat and tongue swell.
It's just taken years to get to where I am. See why I'm worried? And thank you for replying!

I'm sorry :-(
Yeah, antipsychotics/neuroleptics/tranquilizers...can be --rough-- going sometimes. I'm glad Latuda is doing the job for you. |

If you wouldn't get extrahelp then you could nearly definitely get an exemption into Latuda's patient assistance program (found on Latuda's website). It will say that Medicare patients don't qualify (and sometimes your income may be too high) but I've gotten meds through pt. assistance from various companies and have never been denied when I enclose a brief note saying I'm asking for an exemption due to the drug would cost $200/month which is x% of my income (or whatever applies).
It's also a good idea to go to Medicare.gov every year and check out the options; sometimes there is a much better plan for not much more money. I had that happen a few years ago; my 1st plan I spent a lot of money out of pocket and then this plan really didn't cost me that much. Of course it was cancelled and now I'm stuck with the only plan that covers clozaril which is not going to be nearly as good as my old plan.

im on medicare and I get it free from the drug manufacturer . It's based on income, but more generous than most. I just applied directly to the Saphris manufacturer.
