Well I was trying to move to a new apartment complex. I have a registered Emotion Support Animal. I met with the office manager. I gave her the registration papers and a letter from my pdoc. The manager said "our corporate office will need more information". She gave me a medical release form to sign??? I asked why this was necessary? She said "we just need to get a little more information". I wrote on the form "no case note or medical chart info....only answer Emotional Support Animal question". This happened on Monday. Well yesterday (Thursday)she called and said "we denied you because of your credit." I asked her questions but she was barely answering. She was rushing me off the phone. I know she was not suppose to have me sign that release. I don't know why I did...I just really wanted to move there. I'm kicking myself now

I'm sorry can you look for an apartment that accepts animals so you don't have to give your information. My complex just took your dr note. I didn't think they could ask for more information.

This sounds horribly discriminatory and should be illegal. I wonder how many other places do this? Are they trying to force the mentally ill to live in tent cities? I'm so, so sorry this happened and I hope you find someplace even better who will welcome you and your pup with open arms. (((Hugs)))
Thanks for this!

No it is not. Also my older daughter just rented her first apartment and her score is 620. She's 19 so she pretty much has no credit. The crazy thing is the apartments I was trying for take government vouchers yet they want to be strict lol. My daughter 's don't take vouchers and she got in...wish they were not so far away.

I think they might have discriminated against you. 650 seems to be the standard acceptable score in my area and sometimes they make exceptions.
