Sorry you've got a tremor. Have you talked with your doc about cogentin? It's supposed to negate some of the bad side effects of haldol.

I have a really bad tremor. I have been prescribed Cogentin, but it has so many weird side effects. I take a small dose only 3 times/week...it helps a little bit.

Haldol can cause long term, sometimes permanent, movement disorders, even in low doses. Its effective, but its one of the more neurotoxic tranquilizers. I read about it once; there's apparently a metabolite, produced when your body breaks the Haldol down, that might be at least partly responsible for the high rate of EPS, tardive dyskinesia, etc.

Please talk to your prescriber. My own personal opinion would be to slowly ditch the Haldol. 2mgs/Haldol is roughly=100mgs Thorazine, which isn't a whole lot. Have you ever tried Risperidone? According to my psychiatrist, Risperidone gets the job done like Haldol, and as long as you keep the dose below a certain point (I wanna say he said 6-8 mgs/day), the EPS isn't terrible.

I have cogentin I just forgot to take it last night. I also get muscle cramps sometimes from haldol. I have taken Rispersal and got HORRIBLE Akathesia! The haldol really helps me. I was on 50mg thorazine when I was ip for psychosis. I did not like it!
