My seroquel hasn't had the chance to work yet but I'm still struggling every day. None of th coping techniques I've been suggested have worked... The hallucinations and paranoia are killing me. I don't know what to do...

I'm sorry you're still feeling bad. Hopefully the meds start helping. If they don't, you should really consider finding a way to get to the hospital. Sometimes we don't feel like we need IP but we really do! It's important to look at the bigger picture even if you see small improvements. If your functioning is still highly impaired then maybe it's time for IP.

Sorry the meds haven't started working. I hope things turn around for you. If coping mechanisms don't work and you can't take it anymore, let your doctor know or call the ER .....if SI comes back, go to the hospital ASAP.

sometimes, there's psychosis despite tranquilizers. I get that sometimes, although mine is (apparently) linked to "obsessive traits" that pop up when my mood goes up or down enough.

If you read the old psychiatric literature, the tranquilizers really don't stop psychosis for a lot of people. What the old shrinks called the "schizophrenic processes" remain, its just that the medicated person/patient is calmer, less agitated and anxious, and (ideally) better able to function and respond to psychosocial interventions.

Maybe a different tranquilizer? Seroquel doesn't cause much EPS or tardive dyskinesia, but I think Zyprexa came out as more effective (in big studies, anyway) in terms of long term symptom reduction. Not that I'm one to talk. I keep taking Abilify even though I get more lingering psychosis stuff than I'd like.

Hope things get better for you.

Thank you. I'm hoping they start working too. I still don't think I need IP...probably just because I don't want to go, who knows...but if I feel like I need it, and have a ride, then I'll go.

It's alright. Just hoping they kick in soon. Thank you though. Unfortunately I can't get ahold of my doctor and I'll have to wait until the right time if I want to go to IP.

Oh I didn't know that.

It has calmed me down but hasn't completely rid of the symptoms. I'm still having hallucinations and paranoia.

I don't know what other AP to try, I've tried a lot. Zyprexa didn't work for me

And thank you!

Some people (like me) need two anti-psychotics on board. Maybe that's true for you too? I have much less psychosis on this cocktail than when I was just on Seroquel.

I also wonder if two antipsychotic meds would help you, though only a doctor would be able to tell of course. I only say this because it has helped me in the past, where 2 APs were used for a period of time, until I was no longer experiencing acute psychosis. Once the psychosis went away, I went down to only 1 AP, which is what I'm on now.

I hope you feel better soon. ((HUGS))
