Excessive spending is normally associated with mania. Has anyone experienced this while depressed or mixed episode?

Absolutely, but only when mixed or hypo/manic. Everything seems so shiny and is calling me to buy it. Since April I have put a ban on spending outside necessities as I blew my entire savings Jan-April. Going well so far.

I have while depressed once. I used my step dads amazon account. I ordered stuff that I thought would make me feel better. It didn't work and I got in trouble for using his amazon...

While mixed , Yes. Plenty of times. I've ended up losing most of my savings.

Yes, excessive spending by itself though doesn't mean you're manic though necessarily. A lot of people have problems with self control when it comes to spending and I definitely do outside of any episode anyway

I shop as a therapy.

And honestly, as far as I know, those cheap make up pallettes and clothes from Asian markets are cheaper that actual therapy, lol.

I posted yesterday wondering the same. I have an appt Wednesday to talk about bipolar/ADHD as I have many symptoms of both and I was sure I had ADHD but my dr thinks I'm bipolar and I now agree. But I have problems with excessive spending all the time. When I'm depressed it cheers me up and when I'm not I still spend too much: in July I got a loan for 2600 and spent it all in a week. The only good thing I bought was new glasses but the rest I couldn't even tell you what I spent it on other than a new tattoo ( which was only $70) and eating out.
