I just went to the acoa board. Read a post by an adult child of an alcoholic (which I am). I feel so triggered right now. I'm shaking! Too many old memories flooding ! I can't deal with this right now . I thought that was all behind me.

I read the same one and dealing with the triggers as well. How do you normally ground yourself?
I use music, games and usually delve into a story whether on TV or in a book, but always funny.

I am so sorry! Being triggered unexpectedly is a massive shock to the system. Keep posting here if it helps. You are not alone. This happened to me Sat night and I am still recovering. I luckily had a friend who kept in contact with me till I was safe. It is totally PTSD, and very serious. Are you safe?

I'm in bed hoping to sleep soon. Tomorrow should be good. My youngest is here in his room asleep. It's so late I hate to call anybody. Maybe things will look better in the morning. That was such an unexpected shock to the system.

I avoid that forum and have not researched that topic fully. I do know what it's like to feel triggered however and it's very unpleasant. I avoid certain topics sometimes because something about it is triggering for me.
I hope you start feeling better soon and keep posting if it helps. |
