I've been only swimming once or twice per week.
Been laying around a lot for last 2 yrs since ECT. It's awful.
Then I said something about I thought I may have dropped a few lbs. and sooner or later I'd be thin again.
He said,"oh yeah right. Like that's going to happen.
Why do people need to be so hurtful?
It sure doesn't help me to stop snacking. He has no faith in me,apparently.
I got off the weight gaining meds. Im trying to find a new med to help me get out of the dumps and get some energy.
Boo-hoo.

He also said I was too thin and flabby 2 yrs ago when I got out of the hospital.
What does he care? He wasn't interested in intimacy even when I had the perfect figure.
Mean.

Sorry to hear that he is being unsupportive. Have you expressed to him how his lack of support makes you feel?

In some relationships, when one person starts to lose weight, exercise, etc, the other person feels threatened. Could that be the case with your husband?

Zoloft is known to pack on the pounds. Does he not know this?

He works out constantly. Runs marathons.
I'm going to get off Zoloft. Before I has problems with Effexor and seraquel.
I don't think he feels threatened. Just disappointed.
It hurts my feeling and he knows that.

Just temazepam at night. Investigating new day med.
over 35 yrs been on tons and combos and meds that pooped out over time.
No one believes it but opiates work the best. On them before years ago. Had no depression no real episodes. Never needed to increase dose.
Everyone is anti opioids now.

Yup they sure are. You might not even get them if you walk into an ER carrying another one of your body parts these days!

I am so sorry this happened to you. (((Hugs))). And that your husband doesn't want to be intimate. That must be very difficult and you don't deserve to be treated like that. (((More hugs)))

Your husband is inconsiderate.

I've been on different meds in the past and they were not weight neutral on me. There are ones out there that should not have as much of an impact so far as weight fluctuations go. Hopefully your doc can help you find something.

During my first marriage when I was pregnant I watched Jerry Springer or some show like that with husband who were pissed off at their wives for gaining weight while pregnant. I told my husband about it and he said "they have a right, it's disgusting for women to turn into pigs just because they are pregnant ". I had gained a lot of weight and it was obvious he was speaking to me. I should have known and divorced him then. When I showed him our son's foot moving across my belly he screamed "that's disgusting " and backed away in fear. Lol. What a nin -come-poop.

When I gained weight on meds with my current husband I felt he treated me differently. He says it was my imagination and I did feel very bad about myself and physically ill so maybe I did imagine it. Not sure. But he was never outright rude and he said "take your meds, I will love you at any size, you are always beautiful to me". I think he believes it when he says it but I'm not heavy when he says it either.

My point is, I do know how much it can hurt to be accused and belittled about something you don't have as much control over as someone assumes.

I plan to work on my weight....FOR ME.....so I can feel better. I hope you do whatever makes you happiest. Staying at your current weight, gaining more or losing some....you're great as you are in my book.

Thanks for the support.
I have closets full of clothes I can't wear.
I probably shouldn't be such a baby.

Recovering from ECT can take many months. Be kind to yourself and if YOU feel up to it get back into more swimming. Are any of your meds causing this? Zoloft can, as can Temazepam. Maybe talk to your pdoc this week and find some meds that don't cause weight gain but treat your symptoms. I was on Olanzapine (Zyprexa) and put on 4kg in 2 weeks so I stopped it and am now trying Abilify which is lowering my appetite and not making me gain weight.

I'm considering Topamax or Saphris.
I don't see the Pdoc till end of Jan. I might be able to buy some meds here in CR.
