am going regularly to group therapy now. it is a group called emotional stability. the therapist is a jerk. he likes to quote well known psychologists and explain psychological concepts. i dislike him, because he seems to be copied out of a book about intellectual pschotherapists that don't know how to approach their patients. he doesn't really get what we are saying either, which is why topics just die off after a few sentences. the other patients share my opinion. joke of the day, one of them didn't know me yet and as i like to talk a lot and explain my thoughts broadly and also know quite a lot about psychology because i am interested in it, one of the other patients asked me what was my function in the group, like was i also a therapist? nearly laughed my *** off. would have loved to see the therapists face.

Dr. Theresa1991....you should take over the group!

This is something I often wonder about. I have a former therapist that has a master degree and a shelf full of books, but didn't help me much at all in person. I got more out of reading her blog than I did with therapy. It could be some therapists have memorized concepts but don't know how to work with a client and really understand people.
