The police serve a very valuable asset to our society. They are there to serve and protect. Unfortunately they let the law go to their head and laws are written too vaguely to allow them to abuse their power. There is also the idea that one is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Some of them treat people like animals and it's not acceptable for anyone to be frank. But I know first hand how extra traumatic it can be when you are already in crisis and someone completely untrained is "on the scene". And it often ends in death. Some people with mental illness are beaten and some are shot. The jail system is a completely inadequate place for a mentally ill person. All first responders should have improved training on how to deal with the mentally ill. Some do, some are very good but I can personally attest that my local department is a hotbed of trauma.

I don't have respect for most people in general. people do what the want to serve their own selfish needs... now give one of these goons a little bit of extra power over everyone else. a lot of the cops let that power go to their heads, and treat people like dirt. I've been there. I'm all for them stopping domestic violence and stopping violent criminals. but they arrest people for things that shouldn't be crimes, like drugs. these people are sick or just trying to have a little fun, and they get treated and talked to like they're less than a person. I don't care for it and I wont have it. not only that, but they also treat the mentally I'll the same way, like less than a person. do you know how ****ing embarrassing it was to be in cuffs and escorted to the psych ward by some ****ing P.O.S. cop? if there's a next time, I wont go easily, probably get a felony for slugging one of them. if they're gonna treat me like dirt, I'll give them a reason next time. I wont have it.

I have a big problem with authority figures and if I went through my history you would easily see why. I think it takes a certain person to WANT authority over others. And I completely agree about the drug crime issue. It's nonsense....slavery and psychologically damaging. Some people are functional drug addicts. They don't harm anyone. Some people are functional alcoholics....show up to work on time and do their jobs. Should we arrest alcoholics just for being alcoholics? No. should we arrest people for using drugs, no! Most people who try drugs don't turn into drug addicts and studies show that when they do become one, it's always bad trauma, usually sexual abuse. This is a medical issue, not a criminal issue.

The closest I got was when I was escorted from my pdoc's office to the psych ward. It was the office's policy to do that. The officer didn't even put the cuffs on tight. I guess it helps to be quiet and timid sometimes.
