I was first put on vyvanse 30mg and at the end of the day, I would crash so hard and keep hearing the same song repeat over and over, so tired but couldn't sleep, irritable, depressed, you name it. So I was switched to Adderall XR 15mg and it was even worse. My pdoc lowered my dosage to 10mg and it's better but not cured. I keep quitting taking them because of the crash and then take them again. Do I just need to get used to the drug or should I not take stimulants? That's what I'm trying to figure out. I would love some input.

I guess I don't understand stimulants and bipolar. I'd go manic I'd think.

I stopped taking then because they were a trigger for mood swings. Sounds like they may not be helping you.

I've heard from other people that taking a sedative towards the end of the day makes the amphetamine crash easier to bear. I don't know. Personally, I'd see about Ritalin or Focalin, and then if you still have that problem, consider possibly discontinuing stimulants.

I stopped taking aderrall and then had a breakdown. So, the danger wasn't while I was on them for me it was after I weaned off of them.
Tricky medication.

I've got a lot of experience with stims. I've been on all of them. vyvanse is by far the most mellow, everything else made me manic as hell. I'm currently on 40mg of vyvanse, with an extra 20mg as needed. if you cant handle vyvanse I wouldn't do stims at all. everything else is much harder, Ritalin made me psychotic, and concerta made me angry, adderall (ir or xr) made me angry. I can handle the vyvanse though, its the only thing that works for me.

SS, it's interesting that Concerta made you angry. It did the exact same thing to me; it wasn't irritability, it was anger. I hated that stuff. It's weird though, all it's composed of is methylphenidate - Ritalin.

Oh well. Vyvanse is mellow for me as well. I'm on 40mg AM, 30mg at noon.

I've been on vyvanse and I find the crash to be really depressing and I get dysphoric and mixed. I've also taken adderall and for me, it's much smoother of a come down. But everyone's different.
