Day 4 of Modafinil and I'm worried I'm hypomanic. I'm also worried I'm overreacting.

Symptoms:
- Reckless/fast driving
- Sensory overload problems
- Pursuing a bajillion projects
- Sleeping a bit less than usual (still plenty tho)
- Distractibility
- Feeling pressure to speak (but I can control myself and not ramble)
- Thinking my fiance is mad at me when she isn't (i.e. mild paranoia)
- Restless internal energy

Do I sound hypomanic or do I need to chill out and enjoy the good mood?

If I were you I'd try to chill and give it a chance to work and/or create a new normal for you with lessening side effects. If that doesn't work, talk to your doc.

Have you ever used other stimulants? Might be worth trying if the Provigil doesn't do it.

This is the first stimulant I've ever tried. I think the idea was that this was supposed to be milder and less likely to cause mood destabilization.

I'm meeting my doc on Tuesday no matter what. I hope he'll be down for letting me continue on Modafinil for a while. My anxiety about being hypo is mostly cos I don't want to stop taking Modafinil.

You're taking a stimulant which many pdocs find as a no no for BP. When I take stims, I ALWAYS get hypo and the crash is horrible. Please be careful.

I often feel this way when hypo. Stimulants are definitely a no no for me and induces hypomania fast, in my own personal experience. It also causes me to experience severe irritability followed by a crash. It's good that you have insight into these signs, since it's something to monitor. If you continue to feel this way (or if you sense things are getting worse) definitely contact your pdoc. It's better to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I slept a lot last night and am having fewer symptoms right now. The worst part is dealing with sensory overload... everything feels so loud. >
