Or care for a friends pet.
I'm in love with my foster kitten. If I can get my regular cat to accept her I'm going to adopt her. My husbands not home, but he met her before he left. He likes her and said she was good.
One foster dad has 23 kittens at his ranch this season.
It's really helped my depression.
Her name is Silky. She's about 5 months old. Recovering from being starved and her spay surgery.
She's gained lots of weight and makes me happy.

My kitties help me heal. My doggie helped me heal too until he passed away 4 months ago at the age of 13 and a half. If I was ready and in a stable living situation, I would adopt another doggie. A very good idea Ocean Swimmer

Thanks. Once at the height of the fostermoms experience I had 19 orphans here! Joy

I would but one of our cats has territorial issues and the other is a nervous mess. I'm hoping once my daughter moves out with the territorial one we can get a dog.

Taking in 19-23 cats sounds borderline hoarder the places I've volunteered do not let just anyone come in and foster. You need to go though an intake process. I'm in America and most shelters required some kind of intake process so it's not just as easy as showing up and saying you want to foster, it takes time. Fostering is a big responsibility and the purpose is to socialize animals to make them more adoptable, it's not something you do on impulse.

Oh I agree. Our foster leader is another American here in Costa Rica.
I've got 12 1/2 acres. Kitty apartments. 4 houses. A caretaker. At the time I was also housing 5 workers. They helped me socialize the kittens. Some needed to be bottle fed goats milk. Lots of food.
Each over 4 months needed neutering. Lots of expensive surgeries.
But as soon as one group was ready for permanent adoption,a new bunch would be delivered. We are a non profit organization in Costa Rica.
After my last ip, my husband wanted me to take a break.
I rescued this kitten on recommendation of my caretaker. She was abandoned and starving.
I had a kitten killed by a dog. Was grieving. My neighbor was working construction here. He told me about the organization DAWGs.
That's how I got into fostering.
I'm sure the need is great in the USA too.
