So a friend of mine takes Thorazine and he says it helps his anger and has a calming effect. But he's schiz so I'm wondering if anyone has used it for BP? What did it help you with? He also said it made him gain tons of weight on high doses though so I'm a bit concerned about that. Any info or experience will be appreciated.

I used it when I was diagnosed BPD at low doses. It did calm me a bit but made me feel weird. It also makes your skin VERY sensitive to the sun which is an issue where I am from as it is a very sunny place. I would never use it again as I believe there are better options.

That's a very old drug. I agree with Wander...There are better alternatives now with fewer side-effects.

My bp sister in law takes Thorazine every night as it's the only thing that helps her sleep. She doesn't seem to suffer any ill effects. I can't say anything about weight gain though as she is a very large woman and has many factors against her when it comes to weight gain. Her weight gain could be due to a lot of things.

I took it ip in a manic psychotic episode and it brought me down in about a week. I felt really weird though and idk if it was the Thorazine or psychosis. Either way, it worked.

I take it if i go past 5 days of no sleep ... Or my Fibro pain is making me suicidal.

It knocks me flat out , the next day I have med hang over.

Since I only take it prn like 1-2 only a month. I won't build up a tolerance .

I use to also take Haldol . Was a huge help ! Well studied medication. Make sure your doctor gives you cogentin along with it in case you get the restless nonsense.
