Hello all!
I am new To bi polar. I was recently diagnosed with it this year. My whole life we thought it was ADHD. I am looking to chat with some ppl who can give me insite of there journey and friendly advice. I am on lamictal and vraylar. But that's side effects are tiresome. This is coming from someone who was on adderall for about 6 years. And only bi polar meds for a year. My racing thoughts are no more. But I feel on meds I am very flat. And I hate it. If anyone has any input on what to do with a flat mood would be greatly appreciated. Excuse the missprints.
Cheers!
Ps I tend to be more hypomanic but the depression is unbeable

Feeling flat on meds is awful. What dose are you on? I found some meds did that to me and now I am off them I feel so much better in myself but if I get very depressed/manic again I will have to reconsider. Right now I am stable so I don't need many meds. It is kind of a juggle with meds benefits and side-effects and what you are willing to handle. Welcome!

I'm no Dr, but that sounds like type 2... I think Miguel'smom is on to something. I can honestly say I've never experienced feeling flat on meds, except during depression... either way, hell. But I run HIGHLY manic like 80% of the time... my guess would be either meds too high, or possibly wrong med entirely. My mother used to get flat on hers, and a friend I've long since lost touch with would always stop her lithium because of that. The docs would always just taper them down.

Thanks guys! Well the thing is, I have tried to lower the dosage I have racing thoughts. And my focus is gone when we tried to lower the dosage. Maybe you guys are right about getting new medications entirely. Any suggestions?

It depends on the person but I would adjust one medication at a time.

Meds work differently for everyone. Talk with your pdoc about your concerns if you want to try something new
