I was recently given (a tiny) dose of Abilify. I am crying at the drop of a hat right now. If someone asks me how I am, I cry. I see a puppy, I cry. I think about the future, I cry.
At the same time, I finally weaned off of Zoloft as it was given me incredible headaches. This is so frustrating. I feel like a weakling. Maggie

It's tough to tell if it's the Zoloft or Abilify
When I tried to wean myself off Lexapro, I became very depressed. I think it's a withdrawal symptom from Lexapro. I just thought I'd mention that. Sorry you're not feeling well, though, and sorry I don't have any advice. I hope you're able to figure out the cause. ![]() |

If anything, Abilify like all AP's would zombify someone. Coming off AD would make me a cry baby (which I am anyways).

Thanks Bluebicycle and AlwaysChanging2. That's so helpful. I broke down and took an Ativan yesterday and it helped my crying. Seeing my PDOC on 1/13. I hope I can deal with the crying impulse until then.

I hope it isn't. Just started taking it. In a way, would be not bad. I don't cry, ever.

I've been on Abilify at a high dose (30mg) with my old pdoc, & now a low dose (5mg) with my new pdoc & have never seen a relationship between the drug & crying. I'm glad you have an appointment with your pdoc on the 13th; maybe he/she will be able to get to the bottom of it. Good luck.

My pdoc said "it probably isn't doing anything", so he said I should wean myself off it.
I felt horribly depressed coming off it and ultimately became depressed again once the withdrawal went away. Then when I went back on it, I felt a lot better |

When I got off of Abilify (7 weeks lowest dose), I started to have crying spells every now and then during my low point of the day. I had a peculiar interaction with Rexulti where it was good for weeks 2 and 3 but when my sleep schedule went upside down, it became intolerable. After taking a half dose (doc said to try to tolerate it if possible), my partner said he wouldn't be home for lunch that day and I burst out sobbing uncontrollably. That was very irregular.
Also, going from 10 mg to 5 mg of Lexapro was okay when on Abilify (I stopped due to weight gain which was way too rapid), then up to 7.5 for 7 weeks, down to 5 mg again with Rexulti and now just 5 mg Lexapro till we figure out what to try next (Tuesday). I was so well on 10 mg of Lexapro for 10 years. It's the only thing I took and it seemed to just nail all of the individual symptoms I had (depression, insomnia, IBS-C, "transformed" migraine) as well as making me -feel- things, laughing more, crying, able to actually experience emotion firsthand, joy, love. There was a sense in the background that everything was okay even when the day to day stuff had little ups and downs. Having that missing has been horrible. I'm hoping it just pooped out on me and there's an antidepressant that can do that again, along with something that can help with cycling. |

You know....illicit and licit...when you take away a drug....there is now a chemical imbalance....but more so with ssri's.

I've had meds make me so numb I couldn't cry and when that was taken away I cried a lot. Could that be happening as the zoloft leaves your body? Was it keeping you from crying?
