Just a question on how quickly can you go from depressed to manic? I've spent the last few weeks hypo and then I burned hard into a depression the other day. Well now I'm getting that tingly feeling of oncoming hypo again. Is this perhaps BPD?

BP can be rapid cycling, where mood episodes happen four or more times a year. There is also ultra-rapid cycling, some can cycle in weeks, days, or multiple times a day.

I've gone from highly manic to severely depressed in the span of a single day before.

I went through a period where I was ultradian cycling and had 6 cycles between mania and depression in a single day--that was my record and the hospital said it was due to bipolar, not BPD. This was induced by antidepressants.
My usual is cycling every 2-3 months though.
To answer your question it's probably rapid cycling bipolar, not BPD.

I can cycle very quickly sometimes.
Hypo to depression in the same day.

Sometimes I have lengthy episodes with the so-called 'traditional' patterns: hypomania, mania, mixed-mania, then a crash into a depression.

Within the past couple of years though, I do notice more cycling in between episodes than previously. I've felt manic and depressed all within one day....basically mixed symptoms and cycling where I feel sort of all over the place. Sometimes there's little triggers that might influence those changes though, but my response to very slight changes is always extreme.

BPD Is a whole different fish. It sounds like what you are going through is rapid cycling.

I have episodes that last for a few weeks up to months. And then sometimes they just last a few days. I think I have been hypomanic for about two months but shortly mixed for a few days around Christmas. Lots of energy and very dark thoughts. Now I am back to hypomanic since around Thursday.

For me it's really extreme. I go from manic to depressed in a matter of mins sometimes. This happened yesterday.

It can be very difficult to discern between rapid cycling bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Some mental health providers cannot agree on the discernment between these two diagnoses.

I don't believe we can accurately help you to discern this online.
A qualified mental health professional following you closely, getting to know your patterns, is most helpful in discerning diagnoses.

I hope you find the info. and answers you are seeking.

I have a heck of a time remembering such things, but I just went from near-suicidal to recklessly up, in 2-3 days. As best I can recall that seems normal for me. I'm really not sure how far up I've gone, but I have a bad feeling about it...

It was really too strong and obvious to pretend this time, thus I'm hanging out here till I can see someone.

I'm currently fighting with going through depression and hypo episodes at least once a day. I can be depressed in the morning for example, and as the day progresses I tend to get more hypo.

I have been okay all day- except for flashes of anxiety- and now I had some depressive thoughts. I rarely get depressed. I do see Pdoc Wednesday.

My moods can fluctuate rapidly, depending on triggers. I also have BPD, though, so it may be that as well.
