I hear, on an apparently chronic basis, mild auditory hallucinations. They are mainly indistinct chatter, guttural noises like grunting, or short nonsensical phrases and words. If I'm really unlucky I'll hear a voice reading to me aloud what I'm trying to read silently.
Any tips for dealing with voices? Anything that makes them go away or mitigates them? They tend to be really prominent when I'm reading for class, so music won't work in that case (it'll be just as distracting).

I was going to mention a lady I knew with schizophrenia read books all day long, but apparently that won't work for you at this time. I wish I had some other suggestions for you...I hope others will be able to help out. all my best!

Change where you are. Go to another room. Do something else.

Taking a break and moving around helped. I'm getting some quiet time now. Great suggestions!
