Anyone else here get psychosis without mood symptoms? As in, not hypo/manic or depressed.
I have chronic auditory hallucinations (which can be disruptive, but are of neutral content fortunately) and I've had very dangerous delusional episodes.

I believe that's schizophrenics when they occur outside a mood episode.

My doctors don't think so, I think because I'm not psychotic all the time. It comes and goes. Schizoaffective has been brought up a few times but my team of doctors seems to think BP is a better fit. Why exactly that is still baffles me.

That's what I meant: Schizoaffective. (My phone decided to change it for me. Grrr....) I've been thrown between BP and SZA too. My current Pdoc says BP so I just roll with it. I still get as many episodes of psychosis and we still use the APs, so....

I get psychosis outside of mood episodes as well (hence the possible sza part of my sig). The clozapine helps significantly with that though and now it's pretty rare for me to have any psychotic symptoms. I guess the diagnosis doesn't matter much as long as the symptoms are being treated.

Yes, I get delusions when not in a mood episode. I think it's PTSD related but my PDOC thinks it's Schizoaffective. My therapist said she believes it's BIPOLAR 1 with PTSD. Who knows who's right. But yes, I've been delusional without classic mania symptoms or being clinically depressed. (((Hugs)))
