I went to the mall with my daughter and spent $74 at Victoria's Secret. I am poor. We can't afford that. However, I had told her that I'd spend about half that if she gave me that cash for the other half. She agreed. Then, after we left the mall, we went to the grocery store and got about $20 worth of food. Our food stamps are cut off for a few days until we can get our new card in the mail as our old card died. (It was OLD and just wore out!) So I'm trying to feed us on very little money when probably shouldn't be buying underwear, but Victoria's Secret is the only place that fits my daughter's weird bra size and she did pay for most of it with her xmas money and the cash she gave me I turned around and spent on food to tide us over.

Maybe save the money up first then in the future you will " know" that you will have essentials and not have to backtrack.

Just a thought

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gottta do... Are there any free food banks where you live where you could get some basics to tide you over? Just (another) thought...

There has to be a food bank around here. The EBT card was supposed to take 3 to 5 business days and 3 woulda been this Monday so we are getting close. Tomorrow I am going out to lunch with friends but won't eat of course. I just like the company.

Visit your local food bank. That is why they are there, and they love to help.

The food bank is a really good idea. When I was homeless I survived off food banks for a while, until I got an EBT card.

Neodoering, I did go out to eat with my friends. One of them bought for all of us!

I might go check out the food banks tomorrow if they're open. My youngest son is home tomorrow, so that will give us something to do. Still hoping the card comes Monday.

I hope your card comes Monday. No use crying over spilled milk...what was done was done. You did what you felt was right in the moment. Food banks are a great idea. Do you have family who might help also? We've been strapped financially and out of food that anyone wanted to eat but at least there has always been something. I just can't really imagine how stressful this must be for you. Maybe your church could help? (((Hugs)))
