Of Wellbutrin 200mg BID and Lamictal 300mg. My doc added Abilify for my Irritability and anger.

I'm very flat, nothing interests me and I'm generally Irritable and get mad easily. Tonight, I got mad and threw aJimmy Dean sandwich on the floor! Lol

Maybe too much Wellbutrin combined with the new addition of 5mg Abilify??

Gonna check with doc tomorrow, but curiou tireds to see what you think.

Thank you! I'm so tired of freaking out about stupid things

A low dose of Abilify really helped me with irritability and anxiety. I still have the anhedonia though, Abilify didn't make that any better or any worse. Good luck!

Maybe you need a higher dose of Abilify? 5 mg is rather low. I'm on 10 mg right now and it has helped my anxiety quite a bit. Good luck!

Maybe it will take a few more days or a higher dose to have a positive effect. Abilify really helps my agitation and irritability but sometimes I need 20mg to calm down. Let's us know what your pdoc thinks. Take care.

Abilify is often easier to tolerate than other antipsychotic/tranquilizer-type drugs. however, its still an antipsychotic/tranquilizer/neuroleptic. All of these drugs can make you feel flat, numb emotions, create varying degrees of apathy and some can even make depression worse.

On the plus side, these sorts of drugs are very helpful in Bipolar I, Schizophrenia+Schizoaffective, and psychotic depression. On the downside, they're still not the easiest drugs to tolerate (even the "atypicals") and adverse effects can be a big issue, especially over the long haul.

I've been stuck at 30mgs/Abilify. My diagnosis is Bipolar I, on the more severe end of the spectrum. My doctor and I have been reducing the dose some, gradually, and now...wow. I still have control over the worst of my "symptoms," but I'm now more active and less...well...tranquilized, at a lower dose.

I don't have much advice for you, except that you may not want an antipsychotic/neuroleptic/tranquilizer, if you can avoid one. Even if one works, you may not need it every single day. Even if you want/need one every single day, Abilify may not be the tranquilizer for you.

I hope you find something that works.
Thanks for this!

I'm new to Abilify. I was supposed to take 10mg and I'm taking five.
Dunno if it's good or bad, since it substituded my Lithium.
I feel much better anyhow. Maybe the Abilify or getting out of Lithium.
I also take Wellbutrin, 300mg time release, which yes, produces bad temper.
And 100mg of Lamotrigine coming down from 200. It's not doing anything for me anymore. After five years.
Got a shrink appointment tomorrow and will ask to lower everything.
That good I feel. Good luck.

Haha, I laughed too. Very familiar. The kitchen's a really popular zone for that. Mostly it's flinging utensils for me.
Hey, might as well laugh.

Thanks for the morning giggle, NeatFreakMom!

I recently had (5mg) Abilify added to the same mix as you, but different dosages (Lamictal 200mg and 150mg Wellbutrin SR, with Wellbutrin in AM and the Abilify at night.) I had an instance of bad irritability only once, which was in quite a bit of contrast to how it's otherwise been.

It's possible, your theory, but if it's helping you there may be ways to make it work. Maybe taking at separate times of day, a different dosage or formulation of the wellbutrin (mine is SR, one tablet being 150 mg). When you say 200 mg BID, is that 400 mg altogether? If so, that could come down. Curious to hear what your provider recommends. Let us know, ok?

Aside from medications, my understanding is that DBT can help with episodes of anger/irritability. It teaches skills to slow things down before you blow up, or something like that. In any case, I've heard it helps.

I just substituted lithium for abilify. Its making me quite drowsy through the day, my eyes sting with tiredness when they didn't before but just like the quetiapine I'm sure I will get accustomed to it . I'm taking 10mg might reduce to 7.5mg. I feel more normal than I have in a long time I noticed while walking home from college, more like the "old me" but its not just medication that's done it I will be fooling myself. I've radically changed how I think and live my life and who I have in my life and relationships with family. It has taken five years and I still have a mountain to climb to destroy a lifetime of suffering ...
I had anger issues so maybe some therapy won't go amiss. Even if it is writing or drawing or light exercise. Swimming makes me so chilled at night I don't even need a beer to relax.
I hope you find the right combo for you, I know it can be an uphill battle but just push through...

Thanks everyone for your advice!
The funniest thing was that I was trying to get the little package open, and I couldn't. I literally the it as hard as I could onto the ceramic tile. It broke into a million pieces of frozen egg, sausage, cheese and muffin. After a few minutes, I lmao, picked it up and threw it away. 😂😂

After reading through, I wonder if my Wellbutrin needs to be reduced? I'm at 200mg bid. I don't feel as depressed as I was... Maybe I'm cycling. I would think the Ability would calm me, but the Wellbutrin does the opposite!

I'm feeling the same flat feeling and also on abilify too. Nothing interests me either. In my case I really think it's the abilify. My dosage got lowered but i still have that awful feeling.

UPDATE

I know Abilify is great for some, but for me it is AWFUL!

I have had some minor anger issues (now looking back, they were NOTHING compared to this). Just in the last few days, my anger and irritability (probably more the irritability) has been off the charts. It comes and goes...very odd.

But when it comes, watch out!! I have NO patience and NO tolerance for anything! Everything really pisses me off, I get shaky, and I have to take a Xanax, lie on the couch and try to clear my mind.

This all started when I started Abilify. Well, needless to say, I stopped it. Abilify hasn't worked for me in the past, so we thought we would try it again, but NO WAY! I will never take this medicine again as long as I live. I have enough emotional issues..I don't need more! LOL!!!!!

I hope and pray it works well for whoever is taking it. I just wanted to update my experience so maybe some ppl who have the same effect will know they aren't alone.

Try to have a positive day all! I am going to!

Cathy
