I have been sick for the past month with pneumonia. I was prescribed 5 medications to cure and mask symptoms. I was briefly hospitalized. Now that I'm feeling healthy physically again I'm starting to get hypomanic borderline mania. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm wondering if it was from being so inactive or from some of the meds I took while sick. I've disregarded all except this second antibiotic.
Thanks for this!

Could it be stress? I know that stress is a major trigger for me. I certainly would be very stressed out if I were sick with something like pneumonia.

Glad you're feeling better, though. Just be careful and make sure to contact your pdoc/therapist (if you have them) so that things don't get out of hand.

Were you on steroids? They can be awful and can trigger mania. I have asthma and have gotten pretty sick before because I try to avoid steroids at all costs.

Steriods definitely affect moods. If you were on one of them, I would suspect that. That being said, when I'm ill I typically have a pretty stable mood. Could it be the fact that you're getting better and it just makes you feel good?

When you're sick your body is under stress, so there's a chance it could trigger an episode. Make sure you talk to a pdoc if you're feeling that way.
