Hi, anyone on Trileptal? My doctor added it earlier this week to lamictal and zyprexa. I've been really really depressed, after having a big spike up for a couple days. I took zyprexa BID-PRN for those couple days and then went back to just the HS dose. I've now taken 2 doses of the trileptal, just 150mg BID, for a week, then 450 total, then another week and 600 total.

I really hope this works, I can't live like this.

I love it. Been on it since 2009. I'm on a pretty high dose of 1800mg. But it really got rid of all the anger and irritability I had in the past. I was stabile on it for years. But with the nature of the beast that is bipolar disorder, tweaks are currently being made with other meds.

Hi, Yes, I've been on Trileptal for some months. It seemed to possibly offer some help initially, but I'm not sure it's really doing much for me anymore. For many people Trileptal is a good mood stabilizer.

I'm on 1200mg, been on it for two years now. We've had to add other meds to the mix. Low dose of Lamictal 150mg, Latuda 120 mg and Busbar 20mg 3x a day. No bad side effects from trileptal for me.

Thanks for the responses. It's only been a couple doses I don't expect anything yet. I am more depressed than a few days ago. I've been barely eating and staying in on couch almost all day. Nothing interests me. If not better soon I will call doctor again soon. I saw him monday.

It does take time to build up into your system before you see the effects. I hope it works for you.

I know it'll take at least a few weeks to notice, hoping for good outcome. If not doctor said Lithium which I'd rather not. One other thing is I haven't been exercising at all for a couple weeks bc of depression. I did force myself to go on a walk the last two evening but I should be outside running now that is Spring. Back in the day I ran a few miles every morning before work.

hi. i take it, and it helps with the (hypo)mania, calms me down, reduces agitation, etc., but I can't say it does much for the core depressive problems that pop up a lot. Since I get psychotic depression, it helps with some of the symptoms that come along with that, but the depression itself requires additional treatment (lamictal and wellbutrin, in my case).

I hope it helps you. I completely understand wanting to avoid Lithium ((I'm the same way)).
