So my psych nurse is very flighty. I routinely have to wait 45 minutes past my appointment time to see her. Well today it was an hour and fifteen minutes! My appointment was at 4:30 and she didn't see me until 5:45! It was ridiculous. Seriously, OVER AN HOUR? Why bother making an appointment? And this is every single time I go there. Even if I'm her first appointment of the day! I've even been there waiting and she didn't even show up to the office until a half hour after my appointment time!

She's very nice but she's kind of a ****** nurse. I have to research my own treatment options and suggest them to her, and then she be a and haws about why it might not be a good idea and says she has to check with the head psychiatrist before making a decision, which means I can't switch meds until the next appointment. I was the one who suggested emsam and she gave me such **** about it because she thought it was too dangerous. She had honestly never heard of it before but saw maoi and said no way.

I've stuck with her because she gives me free samples of invega and has been for three years. But we (meaning I) have made the decision to transition off of invega in June and try latuda instead. I think if I get settled on latuda, I'm going to look for a new provider. Hopefully a doctor this time. I have better insurance so I should be able to find SOMEONE other than her and my old psychiatrist in the area. I just can't take the wishy-washiness and the insanely long waits anymore!

I know lots of people have fired their pdocs on here. What was the final straw? I'm hesistant because honestly she's a nice person but shes just not very good. But I hear so many horror stories of pdocs that I'm afraid to try to find someone new!

Sorry that happened to you. She sounds very flaky, not to mention totally incompetent.

I used to think my pdoc was bad since he's habitually 20 minutes late, but wow, that lady is much worse than him. Personally, I would not tolerate someone who is that late. I'm already having a hard time accepting 20 minutes.

You should not have to deal with the b_llshit of "well, I'll have to talk to the head psychiatrist first..."

Honestly, that is NOT fair to you. You are paying for an appointment because you want to accomplish a simple medication change. You should NOT have to pay for two appointments to accomplish what you want. That is criminal.

Wow, that's bad! I hope you can find a pdoc really quickly.

My son was often sick as a kid so we spent a lot of time in hospitals and waiting for doctors. There were times when I waited for over 2 hours because they were running late. Several times in fact. I've accepted it as a risk of the profession and unpredictable nature of medical/health issues. I like to hope they aren't Bach there eating sushi and smoking a joint and are in fact treating a patient who needs the attention.....however it sure is rude and frustrating as all heck. Who knows what they are doing...wAtching porn or taking a nap. Complaining rarely helps either.

It's really bad, Especially considering how horribly uncomfortable the waiting room chairs are. If they supplied recliners, it would be understandable because people are usually sick in the doctors office. The ER is the worst, but at least they often have a TV....but the comfort of the chairs is beyond ridiculous! They should consider these things.

As this sounds like a constant occurrence, I sure hope you find a solution and get some satisfaction regarding all of this!

My pdoc routinely runs 30 minutes behind. I try not to get mad by remembering sometimes people come in to his office not doing well and he spends more time with them than he was planning to. I was that patient once. I don't think I could handle always having to suggest my own treatment though...

Some pdocs are terrible!

I tried getting a pdoc at the local mental health center. Here's how it went:
Create an appointment for end of July
Late July he calls and reschedules for late August
Second week of August he calls and reschedules for early september
He calls again and reschedules for late september first thing in the morning appt
Late September I go and wait over an hour. I ended up leaving without seeing him.
And some how on my records he diagnoses me with schizophrenia??? Without even seeing me???

Also prior to this when I was still in adolescent services I had a doctor who put me on Seroquel. Well after a few months I overdose on seroquel and the hospital takes me off it. He was pissed to findout the hospital took me off seroquel and asked me why they did that. Ummm, I tried to kill myself??? It wasn't working???
He refused to give me a prescription for the new med I was on and put me back on seroquel. I was back in the hospital within 3 months.
Thanks for this!

My pdoc can run late, but usually it's one of the other patients that cause that. It's a shame she's leaving in June and I have only one more appt. left with her.
