Hi!!
My father was diagnosed with bipolarity (type 2). I have been consulting a psychiatrist for a month now, and it is too early for her to make a diagnosis. However, I was wondering if it was normal for my cycles to be very short. (I can feel something similar to mania and then have a depressive episode ... with a few hours of intervals!) is that normal?? |

If you are ultradian bipolar, then yes, you can have those sorts of "short cycles" you are talking about. However, I believe that ultridian is very, very rare.
I think you should continue to consult a psychiatrist or psychologist about your concerns to see what they say. You may also need medical tests to rule out medical conditions such as hyperthyroidism, as hyperthyroidism can cause the type of symptoms you are describing. Moreover, there are similar psychiatric conditions such as borderline personality disorder. So there are a lot of things that can cause bipolar-esque symptoms. I hope you are able to see a mental health professional to find the answers you are looking for ![]() Last edited by Anonymous35014; Mar 28, 2017 at 11:27 AM. |
