Hello,
My father was diagnosed with bipolarity (type 2) and I have been consulting a psychiatrist for a month now, and it is too early for her to make a diagnosis. However, I was wondering if it was normal that my cycles are be very short. (I can feel something similar to mania and then have a depressive episode ... with a few hours of intervals??? |

Yes it's possible, called ultradian cycling. Best left up to a doc to diagnose.

I agree with bioChE but I've also heard it called rapid cycling.

Quote:
Rapid cycling is defined by 4 or more mood episodes in a year. Daily/weekly swinging is different, although I'm not sure the exact criteria for ultradian or ultra-rapid cycling.

I have bipolar type 2 and I can cycle very rapidly at times.
Often with in the same day and within just a few hours. I have always called it rapid cycling but I am sure that is not correct when you cycle within the same day.

Im in the circle too, wrapped around the rapid cycling...some days 4 or more shifts, after 6 weeks of vraylar im frickin even its so pleasantville black and white and in between stillness like sepia. Psyche drugs are sketchy at best-be ware and aware-they are saving me but it has taken years of various concoctions do not give up. There is always a way out.
