I have this friend, K, who is about 20 years my senior. We met at a book store ten years ago and have been good friends since.

However, he has this bad habit of telling me about political stuff. I hate politics! It makes me anxious. And TODAY he says that the president wants to go to war with North Korea to make himself look better! WTF?! Now I'm anxious and worried. He tells me about all sorts of news, but the political stuff he just goes on and on about and it really gets to me. That's all I'll say because this is a post about my friend's behavior not politics.

And I am home now blasting my new favorite CD, thinking of the weekend I've got planned with my best guy friend, C; we planned the details last night and I'm so excited! We were texting about what we were going to do, waiting on each other's messages with baited breath! Ha! Like kids!

Is there a chance you could talk to this friend and let him know that political discussions make you anxious? I would think there's enough to talk about that you could steer clear of politics.

I'm with you. I hate politics.

What music did you get?

I got two Adele CDs. I'm really enjoying them. So musical and great technique! (I can sing but not like that!)

I don't know if he thinks he's my personal news anchor or what. I just don't appreciate doomsday news. Why would I? I have bipolar disorder and get anxious and I have no PRNs. That's why I typed about my weekend: Something good to look forward to!

Why not tell K his political talk makes you anxious and you'd prefer not to go there?
