I've seen psychiatrists as long as I've had bipolar disorder. Recently I started seeing a PA because I could get in to see him quicker than with the psychiatrist. He seems to know as much about different meds and side effects as my past psychiatrists.
Is there any reason to avoid seeing a PA even if he seems knowledgeable? |

Even doctors knows very little about the meds they prescribe. Same goes for pharmacists. They know only of the studies which have been published and that says very little about the effectiveness of these drugs.

I've never done it with my pdoc but see PA's all the time for other things and have found them very competent and knowledgeable.

If you're comfortable with the PA and their knowledge, there's no reason not to trust them.
