Last year i developed food allergy, mostly from dairy. so i stopped eating it. and i was okay. a month after that i started seroquel 50 mg for sleep. and i started taking probiotic to hopefully heal my allergy. and a couple of months after taking it i started eating dairy, little by little. and guess what, i felt perfectly okay after eating it. no signs of itching or hives. so i have been eating dairy regularly as a part of my diet ever since then. I attributed my healing to the proboitics. But a couple of days ago i switched meds, went on ambien, which apparently does not have anti histamine properties. and i started feel itching again. and now im on doxepin since ambien was just a temporary aid for me. and the itching has disappeared again. turns out doxepin too has anti histamine properties. so im wondering, did my " so called healing of food allergy was really just a hoax"? and my psych meds were masking my allergy symptoms giving me an illusion of wellness. Offcourse im getting the food allergy test soon, i'll know for sure when i get the results. But in the mean time, have any one else experienced something like this? any thoughts, suggestions are most welcome and much appreciated.

Oh no! This is very interesting, I am sorry you are having those symptoms again. Did you talk to your doc about this?

Seroquel definitely has antihistamine properties and could have been creating the situation you describe.

Yes! I thought I was the only one who noticed this too. I also take abilify which has antihistamine. Since taking these meds I can eat peanuts, and corn just fine. No itchy mouth or skin.

I've given up eating dairy, all vegetables, fruits and many other things trying to figure out what is causing my stomach pain and allergies. I think it just caused malnutrition rather than helping me. I might be getting an allergy test soon too, if I can hold on that long. It would be nice to have a flicking answers as I'm sure you can relate right? I've had skin allergies since childhood on and off and food allergies of some kind too "I think" or maybe I'm just insane and a lost cause. Good luck to you.

You are so not a lost cause. Dont believe your mind when it tells you so. Uncertainty, a quest for finding answers ( and not getting them) to find some sort of certainty, can leave us feeling unhinged, out of place and lost. Every now and then, Take a moment to breathe and let go of the continuous inner resistance and accept the present for just the way it is.
