I hate APs.

I just upped my Seroquel dose recently and it made me gain 3lbs within a week and a half! I'm done with it. It's just a fat pill.

Total b_llshit

I'd rather be depressed or manic.

Definitely not taking Seroquel tonight. I probably won't sleep, but f_ck it. I'd rather have insomnia than gain weight

Already tried plenty of other APs. I don't want to be on any. Maybe have one for PRN, but not daily

Always good to hear from you.

Three pounds in a week? OMG!

Why aren't there more meds which do not affect weight?

I can certainly understand why you'd be reticent to take it when it is causing you that type of weight gain!

I feel for you, bluebicycle and can totally relate. I've been on various doses of Seroquel throughout the years (a lot of up and down lately though).....and I have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to this medicine. I recently asked my pdoc to lower it a little based on some appetite increases, some weight gain, involuntary shaking/twitching, and other side effects. Maybe that's why I'm hypo now, but I'm trying to work through it, rather than go up again. It sucks that nothing helps me sleep but Seroquel, and when hypo/manic, it's the only way I can get a few hours. Pdocs expect patients to take their meds for depression/stabilization, yet they make you depressed and de-stabilized as far as lowering self-image due to weight gain.

What dose are you on now?

My favorite psychiatrist, when I complained about weight gain said, "Would you rather be fat or dead?"

Blue, the way you were talking recently made me really concerned for you. If going up on Seroquel made you feel better, it might be worth trying to find a way to work with the medication rather than giving up on it entirely. I know Seroquel side effects suck, but so does the alternative.
