Hi old friends!
After sending my best friend a religious rant about Jesus in the middle of the night and her seeing my posts about Jesus on Facebook, she said I was at least severely hypo manic. I was mad and told her that I was simply stable and have rekindled my relationship with the Lord. However, I would have bought a $1200 puppy if my husband hadn't shown up and my son is highly allergic to dogs. Then I spent over $300 on Easter for my kids and over $300 on clothes. Needless to say, my husband agreed and insisted I call my doctor. Seeing as I wanted to PUNCH my husband in the face for keeping me on the phone while I was trying to write this, my mind has been racing, and I haven't been sleeping well despite my 600 mg of Seroquel, i suppose they are right. Anyway, my doctor is out of the office on Fridays so I called the on call doctor, who was worried about me becoming manic, assuming I am only hypomanic at the moment. He decreased my Pristiq to 50 mg from 150 mg and increased my seroqel to 900 mg. He said he expected me to sleep for 15 hours a night. Well, I did sleep 12 1/2 hours and woke up nondrousy but when I read up on seroquel, it says 800 mg is the highest dose. Has anyone else ever taken 900 mg? I'm a little concerned.

It's ok. I've been on up to 1500 mg. My pdoc says that Seroquel is a really safe drug and that she is comfortable using it up to 1500 mg (1800 mg?) and hasn't had problems with anyone who has done so. I didn't feel great on 1500 but was on 1200 for a few years and had no problems. I don't think I even had additional side effects at 900.

i think what i read was they dont usually go above 800 because the studies suggest there is no more added benefit after that dose. but studies mean nothing to me at this point in the game. other ppl like rainbow say it has helped them at higher doses . hope it helps you!

Yes, back in the early days of being diagnosed, I took 900 mg of Seroquel, daily. That was back when they didn't know a lot about it. I can also remember a time when I took 50 mg and got the same effect.
Today, I use Seroquel to knock my mood down. Usually 200 mg. takes care of the immediate problem. The key for me is that when my mood is elevated, I don't always know it, until a chain of events take place and it is pointed out to me. I live alone so sometimes I don't catch it and eventually wear myself out. 900mg used to be fairly common.

Thank you all very much. I know, at least, that the increase made me sleep which accounts for something. I will let you know how I am after time has passed (assuming my own pdoc agrees with the change--we have been discussing the addition of Depakote for a while).
