hey everyone.... i tried contacting the counseling services on my campus today but i received no answer and feel discouraged, after it took me a lot of willpower to attempt to talk to someone (post-robbery incident). i took a mental health evaluation after filing the police report and was screened as highly likely for having developed ptsd because of the robbery. it's admittedly frightening to me that this might be true, although i will try not to read into it too much until i go talk to a psychologist about it.

my family has been incredibly supportive of me but i'll admit, i've been having a tough time wanting to talk to anyone else other than them. i keep ignoring messages from friends and deactivated the few social platforms i used. i know that isolating yourself isn't the best thing to do, but right now it just feels too exhausting to try anything else. at least i did one productive thing today: talked to my phone company and have service on an older phone. still unbearably upset that i just have to hope and wait the stolen one gets returned...... but i suppose it could be worse

i'll try phoning the counseling office again tomorrow and monday morning, though i think i'll need the week off. my thoughts feel very scrambled and thinking clearly doesn't seem like something i can do for now.

You are having a normal reaction to the recent trauma. Please give yourself a lot of space and compassion.

Good for you for trying to get help through the counseling office. I hope they can help you.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to a crisis service or a hotline in the meantime.

I am sorry, I have forgotten if you see a T or a pdoc on a regular basis.

I was assaulted in a park a few years ago and was very traumatized, including a TBI. Nobody around me understood what I was going through. It felt like a very lonely time. The trauma exacerbated other conditions, too.

Take excellent care of yourself. Your welfare is a priority right now.

You've been through a terrible ordeal. Did your professors understand that you needed time off? I'm glad you're reaching out to someone to process this trauma. Be gentle with yourself and take it slow and easy. Give yourself time to heal.
