I needed to take today off after last week's trauma (see other posts). I feel a little guilty, but I was there emotionally for the kids through the tragedy and now I'm emotionally drained. I need a catch up day. Be gentle.Every time I text for a substitute I can see the last day I took off and it is always around the same time, once a month. I hope at school they don't see the pattern, but I'm sure they do. Oh, well. I need to take care of my illness sometimes.

I understand what you mean. I feel guilty about missing work sometimes especially when I check how many sick days I've taken previous to the one I just took. I'm learning that you're no good to the students if you are not well, so take the day to rest and recharge.

I think many people with MI need to take a day or days off now and then. I remember an executive where I used to work had a physical ailment (I'm thinking MS) and had to take off from time to time because of it. To me it's the same thing. Be gentle with yourself and take care of you.
