This has happened to me several times this past week. I will do something, and I don't know if I completely space out or what and later I will think, "I forgot to...X" then I go check on it, and it has already been done. Such as folding the laundry or putting away some groceries. I haven't had this happen before. I know I'm a bit hypomanic, but is this type of forgetfulness/space out normal in BP?

This happens to me a lot. I keep attributing it to meds, but I think it happened before meds too. I was hypomanic.

this always happens to me with food.
I'll go " have I eaten?" then I'll conclude i've not, and sometimes because of that have a second/ third meal |

It happens to me quite often. I attribute it to depression at some times, anxiety at others. I've actually had this very conversation with my therapist.

I've had it happen quite a bit. For me it is med-related.

Thanks. It’s good to know I’m not alone in this. I will bring it up to the pdoc at my appt. this week, see what he says.

I will relate an experience that I had many years ago when I was a programmer. During that time, I wanted to improve my ability to write very good software. One day I came across a program that I read through. The more I read it, the more I became impressed. The skill demonstrated by the programmer is where I wanted to be. I was very impressed. So I looked at the beginning where I may find the programmers name. It turned out to be my own. I sat there with my mouth open thinking this was a Twilight Zone moment. I did not remember at all that I had written such a program. Even afterwards, I was finding it difficult to believe. From time to time, I go through periods of not remembering what I have done. Fortunately this does not happen often.

Happens to me all the time. I was afraid for a while that I was developing dementia, but I've now had two pdocs tell me it's a combination of meds and the brain damage that results from having repeated severe bipolar episodes. I'm glad I don't have Alzheimer's, but I can't fix the bipolar and I can't stop taking medication. So I just put up with it, and try to laugh about it because it's going to keep happening.

That happens to me everyday. It’s worse when I’m in a mixed episode and my mind is racing.

Certainly happens to me but much worse when in an episode. Once I woke up in different pyjamas than I went to bed in and had no memory of changing them and temperature had nothing to do with it. While manic in hospital I thought I had had a good nights sleep when apparently I was organising and reorganising my papers for university all night. Weird.

I will say in my experience it seems to happen more often when I'm in a manic state, probably because my thoughts start racing and I'm more driven to do things. Like I'll start multitasking more things than I normally would at work because of the mania and something will make me stop and go did I do x yet.
