Hi everyone,

I was hypomanic a few days ago when I only got 5 hours of sleep, since then I have slept decently and haven't felt manic, but now after I've moved to my parents from school, I was so incredibly exhausted yesterday from packing that I went to bed at 11--2 hours later and I couldn't sleep anymore. Now it's almost 4 am and I still can't sleep. I lay here and toss and turn. Now I'm wide awake--even though I took a Lunesta last night that usually knocks me out. I have an exam at 10 am and I have to finish moving out. Part of it is stressing me out but I'm scared to go manic. Does sleeping normally the next day help get rid of the hypomania? Don't know what to do with this lack of sleep issue.
Any advice?

Thanks,
Brittany

Well, energy, racing thoughts, feeling to do things and get things done. Idk I'm worried because I have a final at 10 am today. -.- If I try to lay back down, and if I can fall asleep id only sleep for 2 more hours before I have to get up..

I'm sorry you're having a tough time. Keep your eyes open for other signs of mania. It sounds like your insomnia might be situational though. You've got a lot going on. If you continue losing sleep you might need to contact your pdoc.

Have you parents watch for signs too. I know when I am going manic I don't always realize it nor do I want too.

When I can't sleep, I know it's mania coming on. Hopefully you got some rest and were able to go to your exam, Like someone else said, have your parents watch for signs.

Let us know how you're doing.

sleep has always been very bad for me ... or lack of it ... I have tried everything ... between the central apnea and the racing stuff ... xanex will always put me out ... but nothing keeps me out ... I feel your pain and wish you well ....

Thanks guys. I finally got some sleep. I think most of it was because I had so much going on. Finally done for the summer now so hopefully I can get some good sleep and keep from going manic. Feeling good right now though.. Btw, my parents can notice mania sigs in me when I'm manic. I don't feel manic anymore. Usually sleeping helps. I was a little hypomanic the other day though cause I only slept 3 hours. Made it through and got my exam done and finished moving out though so I feel relieved about that! Got 1 letter grade back for Personality Theories class and it's an A! Hoping for more As.
