I have lived with my illness for many years, since I was eight. Over time I learned to manage the feelings which find a way to be so overwhelming. But now I find myself in a relationship and I could really use a friend or two who know what I am going through. I feel so guilty for who I am and my moods. Ugh. Help?

Is your partner understanding and loving when it comes to your illness?

Well everyone here is more than happy to help, but could you tell us a bit more about what you're dealing with in regards to your partner?

My partner does not know. But I'm not ready to tell. It has only been a few months. I stopped dating because it interfered with my mood and i prefer individual happiness. Now I have found someone I can say I love, but do I really if I can't show who I really am? Bipolar is a big part of me. My illness has become a part of what I love about me. But will he?

I'm in a relationship with a BP person. It's interesting, we didn't know we were bipolar at the time. If he's worth your time he will accept all of you.

Congratulations on your relationship. You didn't say for how long. Please don't feel guilty about your moods or yourself. That's part of who you are and it's also outside your control. Please be gentle and compassionate with yourself. You have friends here willing and eager to support you.
