So my diagnosis has changed from bipolar 1 to schizophrenia, and I have been allowed an antidepressant along side an ap.

The thing is, I do not believe I have a thought disorder (beyond ocd). I have also noticed that my mood, following several weeks of euthymia, has been quite elevated recently, and it is only when I have an elevated mood that I believe I have a mood disorder.

I was wondering if anyone else only thinks they have a disorder when they are experiencing hypomania or mania? Or if you don't think you have a disorder at all when up?

Only thinking you have a mood disorder when up?
This sums up my attitude. When up, I just don't care (even though its when i think im disordered)

I tend to think I just have bouts of psychosis specifically when manic.

Funny cartoon!
I don't often get depressed so I can see where you're coming from but I DO get depressed sometimes just not as often as manic.

I've got bipolar II, and the opposite experience. I'm down most of the time and only believe I have a mood disorder when down. When hypomanic everything is fine.

That cartoon is hilarious and so true! My depressions are what most convince me of a mood disorder.....then after a manic episode is over, I'm convinced of bipolar. Now they say it's schizoeffective and that I'm not sure about as it means having delusions outside of a mood state and to my knowledge I've always been either up, down or mixed when having delusions. My doctor said I came in one January and was doing just fine mood wise while being actively delusional. I just have to believe him I guess. It's hard to believe because I don't ever remember going to the doctor when feeling fine and I don't remember ever having a delusional experience that didn't start in an upswing and end with a crash.

That cartoon really had me and my husband giggling.

I was depressed for so long that it basically feels normal to me. It's only when I have a mixed episode that I think something is wrong. Mania is wonderful and I never realize I have it until after it's gone.

Same here. It's when I'm down but especially when I'm in a mixed state that I believe it.

I am convinced I have a mood disorder when I am in severe depression.
I sometimes am thinking I have a mood disorder after hypomania and I review my hypomanic behaviors. (BP II )

And I discovered that my castles stand
