So I just got a letter in the mail informing me of a date of an exam for my disability claim.

I'm beyond nervous.

What exactly do they do?

They will most likely do a psychiatric interview.

Well I don't remember much because I was in such a bad state but he was very stern and unsmiling and I cried hysterically and could barely talk. He looked at all my medications and asked questions I can't remember. I was in bad shape. It was a psychiatric review. I'm sorry I'm not being more helpful. Good luck with your exam. I'll be rooting for you.

Oh okay. So it's nothing physical or anything? Doctors make me nervous.

If your claim is for a psych-related disability, there will be no physical exam.

During my exam they had me draw 2 pictures which to my knowledge I did just fine. Had me memorize 3 words like bat, ball, pencil .....I think I remembered them all, at least 2 I think. They asked me questions about how I'm doing and that was it. I thought I failed but they renewed it. Just be honest and tell them anything you believe to be pertinent to why you cannot maintain employment. Good luck.
