I've been on Invega Sustenna for the past 2 years and my prolactin levels are sky high. I saw an endocrinologist and she is going to prescribe birth control so my menstral cycle comes back and regulate my hormones. Is there anything I can take to lower my prolactin levels? She didn't prescribe anything else. Maybe something over the counter? My biggest concern is losing the 50 pounds I've gained from Invega. Luckily my pdoc finally took me off this med and put me back on Lithium.

There's nothing over the counter. My endocrinologist prescribed cabergoline to lower mine. I've only been taking it for a week so obviously it's not working yet. But if you're not taking invega anymore it should naturally come down on its own now that the aggravating med isn't there. I know after I stopped risperdal years ago the prolactin problem resolved itself. However I hadn't gained weight that time so I don't know if you'll lose the weight once the prolactin comes down.
I'm hoping to lose the weight too but I'm having a hard time sticking to a diet.
