You don't mention your other meds, but I've been stable on Wellbutrin and Abilify for almost 6 years now.

How often does Wellbutrin cause hypo/mania if you are BP1 but mainly depressed?

I found it activating in the beginning but it wore off after a couple of weeks and it didn't get out of control bc I was also on an AP. it helped my depression for awhile but like everything else stopped working.

I'm on an AP too so maybe I won't get any mania at all, but I hope it works as an antidepressant I am tired of living in this pit of despair.
Hopefully it also helps to cut down (or stop) my smoking before my hip replacement in July. Smoking really slows down the healing process, I smoke 2.5 packs a day now.

Wellbutrin did increase my libido since the AD I am on killed it. It also was very activating and helped my depression at the time. But no hypomania.

It be amazing if it worked for all 4. No mania, not depressed, stop smoking, and increased libido, all from one med. Well I can only hope.

Sorry to rain on the parade, but Hellbutrin made me manic AF and full of rage. It might have been because I didn't know that I was bipolar then and thus wasn't taking any mood stabilizers to counteract the bad effects. Hopefully it'll work well for you; I've heard it's a really good med for many people. Just not me.

Sorry to hear that, I feel for you. I am taking Lamictal so maybe that will keep things toned down.

They call it he "happy, horny, skinny" pill. I take it with lamictal. I have never been on it alone. Other ADs alone caused manias, but I do not know if Wellbutrin would do this as well.

I would say that it made my libido normal, but hyper-sexuality is a mania symptom for me, it does not do that to me, I do not think. It is sometimes difficult for me to identify symptoms while I am experiencing them.

It definitely suppresses my appetite, hopefully it will help you quit smoking.

Risperidone
Buspar
Wellbutrin
Zopiclone
Tegretol
Inerdal
Klonopin
Lamictal

I recently quit Cymabalta, Ativan, so I guess it's not 12 it's only 8

Plus I use 3 COPD inhalers, vitamin D3 and Calcium which interact with my psyche meds.

Talk about polypharmacy!

Wellbutrin recently made me manic/mixed AF. I became suicidally depressed, hypersexual, and insomniac.

All this recently, even though years ago it worked great for my depression. Tread cautiously.

I was on Wellbuterin for a long time along with Prozac for me it really helped I had to be taken off of it because I went in a mixed episode with high anxiety and my pdoc took me off of it. I've been depressed quite a bit since then. It didn't help me quit smoking but I hope it helps you. It didn't help my libido but that is not saying much cause my libido has been gone for so long now. I hope you get what you want from it.

It definitely made me an insomniac when I first started it.

It seems like most meds to have a wide spectrum of results. I guess all I can do is try it for a couple of weeks and see how things are going.

--response. My husband had to quit smoking because of diabetes and heart disease. My pdoc gave him chantix and wellbutin. It worked. He was more likely to be cranky after quitting however. Research chantix if u decide to try it.
I am bp 2.
Tho uplifting, Wellbutrin makes me too angry and Nervous. I do well on latuda alone. Hugs!
