When I started having problems with Lamictal, my doc brought up Trileptal. I've been having success with Lamictal XR though, so I probably won't switch.

Trileptal has been great for me. Works better for me than Lamictal.

When I was on a high dose of trileptal I ended up in the ER for neurological issues. I'm now on lamictal and doing great. Everyone's different though

Like rx queen states, we're all different because I've been on both (at the same time, why, I don't know). I started with Trileptal and was fine with that for years. Polypharmacy began years later. I was on lamictal from 2015 to 2016 and I felt like an idiot. My memory was horrible, I paid for groceries and walked away on more than one occasion. When I saw a new pdoc while mine was on maternity leave, I asked to be off the Lamictal and I could remember things again.

trileptal helped with agitation, but it caused concentration problems. at one point, when the dose was too high, i even sounded drugged.

i dont think it lifted my mood any. im prone to agitated psychotic depression, so it was helpful in taking both the agitation and the psychosis down a notch or two when things got very bad. i still required additional drugs.

i was on trileptal and a low dose of lamictal at the same time for a while. good for 'symptom control...' bad for cognitive functioning. my personal recommendation would be lamictal over trileptal, just watch the dosage...too much=drug induced stupidity.

abilify was good for me, as tranquilizers go. i dont know why docs insist on using it for so many people with depression. im prone to agitated psychotic depression, so i needed a tranquilizer. i wouldnt say it really helped the depression itself, but it didn't seem to make the depression any worse or cause depression (seroquel did, for me).

I am currently on Lamictal and Latuda and its working pretty well together. Lamictal just really works on the depressive end, I have found "for me" Latuda helps both up and down.

Hope you find a working solution for you soon

I'm on trileptal and a low dose of Lamictal I have serious concentration issues. Think doc is going to ween me off the trileptal and increase the lamictal
