This how my thoughts are working right now..

"Oh look, the door is unlocked. Someone must have unlocked it!"

"Oh, I typed a sentence and there's a totally wrong word in it. Someone must have implanted the thought into my head!"

"I misread that billboard. It must have been a secret message for me!"

At least I can tell that I'm probably just having psychotic symptoms and these things aren't real. Yet on another level I do believe they are real. Just because I have insight doesn't make the experiences any less real.

I hope it's okay to post about this here. It's not directly related to bipolar, since my mood is stable right now.

i think there's a limit to what the drugs can do for this stuff (or...anything, really...). Give yourself some leeway, please. Some people hear voices, don't take the drugs, do OK. Some people have odd thought patterns, no need for psych drugs. Not all deviations from the norm are indicative of illness.

I can relate, to a point. I'm actually having fewer of these symptoms on a lower dose of tranquilizer (weird...), which to me indicates some other factors must be involved in my life.

Try to get a lot of quality sleep and keep a good sleep/wake routine going. Keep in touch with people who care about you and who matter in your life. Personally, I take naps, when I can.

I hope things get better for you.

Agreed, and same here.

I found the following and thought it might be insightful:

Quote:
Psychosis is a mental health problem that causes people to perceive or interpret things differently from those around them...

Psychosis isn't a condition in itself – it's triggered by other conditions...

schizophrenia – a condition that causes a range of psychological symptoms, including hallucinations and delusions
bipolar disorder – a mental health condition that affects mood; a person with bipolar disorder can have episodes of depression (lows) and mania (highs)
severe depression – some people with depression also have symptoms of psychosis when they're very depressed

Psychosis can also be triggered by traumatic experiences, stress or physical conditions, such as Parkinson's disease, a brain tumour, or as a result of drug misuse or alcohol misuse.

Thought disorder (Psychosis)

Sometimes it takes me a minute or two to realize something I have perceived or imagined or whatever is not actually real, and then sometimes it can take even longer to really convince myself it was not...and sometimes that can further require figuring out what actually *was* true. So yes, the overall experience is/was still very real even though we can ultimately realize and accept the fact that the actual thought or conclusion was not.

I'm sorry you have this condition. It's really great that you can recognize the psychosis even if some part of you believes it. I'm here to support you and to talk if you need to. iBest wishes.
