I'm on 300mg of lamictal per day and since I started, my hair has been coming out in fist fulls. I clogged up the shower drain and when I brush my hair I could easily clean out the brush once a day. I've always had long thick hair so this is really freaking me out.

Has anyone else had this happen? Would a decrease in dosage help?? I'm really thinking of cutting down to 150mg a day. Is that even a therapeutic dose??

150mg can be therapeutic for some. Lamictal dosage for BP totally depends on your reaction to it, there's no set blood serum level.

Well I was just doing some reading and it says if you're on estrogen birth control then you need a higher dose of lamictal Lamictal and hair loss. So I may have to stay at 300mg but I just really want my hair to stop falling out.

One of my tdocs said a good multi vitamin with _________ is helpful for that problem. I can't remember the specific ingredient but I got a multivitamin geared towards women and it had that one included. It did help.

Biotin is suppose to help. My hair falls out from stress and also lithium I took years ago. It's never recovered and is a mess and I'm embarrassed to be seen. It's not as bad as I see it I don't think. It could be much worse but I finally had hair that I kinda liked for once in my life and then it fell out and looks similar to when I was attacked and had a lot of my hair ripped out. Try Biotin and see if you're lucky.

Yes my skin is really oily too lately. I have tons of vitamins so I'll start to take those.

selenium also really helps. I was told to take centrum silver to get the right amounts of biotin and selenium.

Nioxin shampoo, conditioner and treatments help a lot too.

Yes I style hair and nioxin is awesome. I've actually been wanting to get some. And my grandma gets vitamin deals and gives me huge bottles so I actually do have a woman's 50+ vitamin that I'm going to start taking. I figured either that or prenatal's would help. Fingers crossed!! I've bent over and brushed my hair out twice today and each time left a pile of hair.

Why is it that the meds that help have the worst side effects?! Lamictal has kept me stable with my rapid cycling. I was really a mess for awhile. I'm going to try anything before I stop taking it.
